Question:         What is Montessori education and philosophy?

Answer:           Montessori education is based upon the scientific research and education of Dr. Maria Montessori.  She developed her method of educating children based upon observation of children and synthesizing this information with other great researchers during her time.  “Montessori is not what we do, but how we do it!”

         Are there tuition fees to attend your school?

Answer:           There is no cost to attend our school!  We are a public charter school within the Wausau School District.


Question:
         Do you teach Common Core State Standards?

Answer:           Our school follows the state mandate to ensure all children have equitable access to the Common Core State Standards, which are called the Wisconsin Academic Standards. 

 

Question:         What is the normal class size for Montessori classrooms?

Answer:           We believe that children learn best in a community environment.  Our goal is to have 28-35 children in each classroom.  These students are supported by a full-time certified Guide (teacher) and Paraprofessional.

 

Question:         How do multi-age classrooms function?

Answer:           In our Elementary 1 and 2 classrooms, we offer the three-year cycle that allows children of multi-ages to learn together.  Instruction is provided in grade level groups, multi-age groups, and in whole groups to allow children opportunities to learn from each other. 

Question:         Do you offer busing for students?

Answer:           Our school serves children from all across the Wausau School District and from surrounding areas.  At this time, we are not able to offer busing for students..

 

Question:         My family needs before and/or after school care.  Do you offer this for children?

Answer:           Wausau Child Care provides child care before and/or after school based on the number of interested families.  We must have 5 full-time students to run that program.  If you have questions, please call 715-848-1436.

Question:         Does your school offer Special Education services?

Answer:           We are able to offer some specific services for children identified with special needs.  You will want to talk with our Head of School to get more information.
