Application Process

Wausau Area Montessori Charter School is a public school chartered by the Wausau School District, serving children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. There is no cost to attend our school!

Through three separate programs - Early Elementary, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary - WAMCS focuses on education of the whole child using our Montessori philosophy.

Interested families attend a tour from 9:00 am-10:00 am with our Head of School that consists of information about Montessori education, classroom visits, observations in our learning environments, and a question/answer session. Our next tours are scheduled for:

Thursday, March 14th or Tuesday, April 2nd

To register for our school, complete the Enrollment packet and submit via email, fax or deliver it to our administrative assistant.

If you are currently living outside the Wausau School District, complete the online Open Enrollment form issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

As a Wisconsin public charter school, we are required to conduct an admission lottery to assign open seats within our school. This process will occur on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 with email notification admission or wait list status sent to all families by the end of that week.

Upon receipt of admission status, new students will be scheduled for a half-day visit to our school in May. They will have the opportunity to participate in our classroom activities and begin building relationships with staff and peers.
